ich habs getan - und hier ist sie: meine erste wollmeisen-wolle. sockenwolle. wundervolle wolle in rosenrot und farn mit einem kleinen musterstrang als beigabe. ich habe ja schon hohe erwartungen gehabt durch all die lobeshymnen, die es in der strickwelt so gibt, aber "in echt" ist das erlebnis einfach undbeschreiblich schön. und zusätzlich begeistert hat mich, wie gut die wolle riecht =)
am liebsten möchte man hände und nase nicht mehr von ihr lassen.

i did it - here they are: my first skeins from the fabulous wollmeise (hand-dyed yarn) in the shades roseate and fern together with a small skein for free. i had heard a lot about this wool but that´s all nothing against the live-experience: it´s simply undescribable beautiful and the wool smells so delicious that i can´t keep my hands and nose off.

um noch die kurve zum titel zu bekommen: noch 24 minuten bis zum ersten viertelfinale - oh mann, bin ich aufgeregt.

the round of the last sixteen is perfect for knitting (i finished the caftan sleeve yesterday during "the clash of the titans" portugal vs. netherlands) and making plans for my several pals:
i found a wonderful one skein pattern for the last knitted present to send in august to my one skein pal and made also a concept for my knit sock kit. above you can already see the fabric for the bag i bought today & i ordered also wool for the socks in wonderful green-shades.

eigentlich...

...ist ja heute meet to knit - und was mach ich? ich fahr in den hunsrück! der ist zwar schön und pittoresk, würde aber immer, wenn es nicht um einen job ginge, bei der direkten konkurrenz zum frankfurter stricktreffen verlieren. so aber bin ich heute abend professionell und stricke nicht.
ich stricke gerade sowieso zuwenig. abends bin ich so platt, dass außer ein paar halbherzigen reihen nichts zustande kommt und ich bin schon ganz beschämt, hier ständig mit dem caftan anzufangen. andere leute stricken ganze jacken ohne viel aufhebens und ich lunger mit dem ärmel rum!
also fahre ich nachher in den hunsrück, gelobe strick-besserung und hoffe, das der süßheits-faktor des heutigen donnerstags-schafes die geneigten leser über meine mäkeligkeit hinwegsehen läßt.

Was macht Ihr im Sommer, wenn es heiß ist. Legt Ihr das Strickzeug bis zum Herbst bei Seite??

auf keinen fall - macht ja viel zu viel spaß! aber die strickprojekte sind doch saisonal ausgewählt und somit habe ich dann mehr baumwolle und insgesamt leichtere garne auf den nadeln als im herbst, winter und frühjahr. außerdem habe ich gerade meine swap und exchange-leidenschaft entdeckt und so freue ich mich über einzlne knäule (one skein!) und knit-sock-kits und mache pläne für wunderbare herbst-projekte.

jetzt war ich seit mai so glücklich mit meinem caftan ( und bin es noch), aber ich merke, dass ich ein bißchen abwechslung brauche - ich schiele nämlich schon wieder zu neuen projekten. und damit ich den überblick über all meine gelüste nicht verliere, fasse ich mal kurz zusammen, worauf ich mich in der nächsten zeit kaprizieren will:

• der caftan soll und will fertig werden. dummerweise habe ich beim anschlagen des zweiten ärmels gemerkt, dass ich mich beim stricken des ersten ärmels in der größe geirrt habe und mit 6 machen zuviel gestrickt habe. zu allem überfluß habe ich (warum auch immer?!) das muster nicht mittig gestrickt, sondern eben um 6 maschen seitlich versetzt. also kann man nun festhalten: 2 ärmel zu stricken, waschen, spannen, trocknen, nähen - juhuu!
  
• die soy silk aus meinem one skein exchange will ausprobiert werden und zwar mit diesem muster - ich habs gesehen und wollte es sofort ausprobieren. dummerweise brauche ich meine 4er nadeln noch für den caftan - also schneller stricken =)
• außerdem kam am wochenende die wolle für victoria aus rowan 39 hier an. als ich sie gesehen habe, wurde sie sofort als hochzeitsgeschenk für eine freundin ausgewählt und nun habe ich noch 9 1/2 (sic!) wochen zeit für das gute stück.
  nun dürft ihr noch raten, welche nadelstärke ich dafür benötige.....
• und damit mir nebenbei nicht langweilig wird, habe ich mich beim knit sock kit swap angemeldet und seit heute morgen weiß ich auch, wo mein ksks-pal wohnt und strickt, und mache pläne für ihr knit sock kit: einen selbstgemachten beutel mit anleitung ( frei natürlich) und garn, aber auch allen möglichen benötigten und unbenötigten hilfsmitteln, wie eben maschenmarkierern, nervennahrung und, und, und. eine anleitung habe ich schon im blick, wolle noch nicht und der beutel wird auch noch spannend, da die nähmaschine gerade mackt und eine große nähkünstlerin bin ich ja bekanntermaßen nicht - würde es aber gerne mal wagen.

• finishing the caftan - stupidly i made a mistake at the beginning of the first sleeve. so i have to knit it again......

• and on saturday the yarn arrived for victoria (rowan 39) and i have still nine and a half weeks to finish it - it will be a present for a wedding in august.
• to be sure that the next weeks won´t become boring i signed up for the knit sock kit swap. this will be a lot of fun. my pal lives in the united states and now i´m looking for an interesting pattern, a fine fabric for the bag ( i would like to sew it), a fine wool and anything else you need for a perfect sock-knitting.

Was machen Eure Männer in der Zeit, in der Ihr strickt? Haben die auch ein Hobby?

netterweise kommen wir uns da gar nicht ins gehege, denn die strickende kiki auf dem sofa wird gerne gesehen und der joerg macht dabei was ihm gefällt. auch wenn freunde da sind, oder ( ganz aktuell) fußball geguckt wird, darf ich dabei gerne stricken und keiner guckt schief. sehr angenehm.

what are your husbands / boyfriends doing while you were knitting? do they also have a hobby?

it´s always ok when i´m sitting somewhere and knitting - joerg likes it and does what he likes to do. also when friends come for a visit or we meet to watch football ( like actually) i´m allowed to be knitting and nobody is bothered by my doing. very comfortable.

and finally i came to the most interesting part of the caftan (beside the sewing...): the front-inlay -

it works and it´s fun to knit! because i knitted short sequels at both shoulders now i have to handle with divers needles and yarn hanging around and sometimes that´s not sooo comfortable but it´s to stand.
ok - one sleeve still to knit, a little tuning and then the sewing -
ouch!

wonderful june´s pa(rce)l

what a wonderful surprise arrived yesterday you can see in the picture above: the happy-coloured june parcel from my kind, lovely, wonderful, generous secret pal! she sent a cordially written postcard to me, 3 removable (!!!) stitch markers (i didn´t had any!), rainbow-coloured paper for a new origami-experience, two small and lovely pillows filled with patchouli (?) AND one skein "oasis", a wonderful smooth yarn of 100% soy silk! isn´t that exciting?!
my first idea was to knit a summerlike scarf or belt with the yarn, but first i will keep it for a while - it so beautiful, so smooth & delicious!

pal-geschichten | pal-stories

kaum versieht man sich, steckt man auch schon mitten im juni und es wird zeit, das erste päckchen zu schnüren. ein bißchen habe ich mein pal schon aussspioniert und bin trotzdem so unsicher, was sie davon halten wird. beim ersten knäuel habe ich mich nun für meine persönliche lieblingswolle entschieden: ein fantastisches grün ( eine farbe, die mein pal sehr mag - so wie ich auch) und netterweise reicht ein knäuel für ein paar edle armstulpen, die man doch immer brauchen kann als frau. dazu gibt es noch französische schokolade sowie eine wollig-gestrickte kleinigkeit - ich feile aber noch am feintuning...

on the spur of the moment it´s june. and it´s time to tie up the first packet for my pal. i know a little about her & certainly i´m excited what she will say about the wool and the things beside.
the first skein is one of my personal favourite-wool, a fantastic green ( a color my pal likes - so do i) and you need only one skein for a pair of elegant and long wristwarmers. besides she will get some french chocolate and little knitted thing - i´m still thinking about the last polish...

mein wochenende mit jan josef, beyoncé & paul

• paul ist der süßeste beagle-welpe, den BB zu bieten hat.
• elke tanzt besser als beyoncé.
• jonas sieht jetzt aus wie jan josef liefers und tanzt nicht so gut wie elke.
• ein waage-mond macht unentschlossen.
• im casino haben wir ungefähr dreimal gewonnen und sehr viel öfter verloren.
• aber sie haben dort tolle prosecco-gläser.
• wir fünf in einem französischen supermarkt sind schlimer als ein sack flöhe.
• die bade-sprudel-kugeln von lush! sprudeln geradezu ungehörig.
• paul mag bei christian nicht baden, wohl aber mit selma.
• wir haben eigentlich zu wenig oft gekocht, dafür aber viel zu viel gegessen, viel gestrickt, gebutzelt, geschlafen, prosecco getrunken, auf der dachterrasse gesessen und die aussicht genossen, viel gelacht und ein grandioses wochenende verbracht.
• kinder - es war wunderbar!!

hello summer?

bevor ich morgen ins lange wochenende nach baden-baden entfleuche, gibt es heute (natürlich!) noch ein paar schafe. interessanteres gibt es auch nicht wirklich zu berichten:
ich stricke, warte auf wolle, bin ein bißchen traurig, dass ich morgen nicht zum meet to knit kann, freue mich auf baden-baden ( dafür laß ich ja auch stricktreffen sausen) und hoffe mal, dass es doch noch mal sommer wird.

tomorrrow i will travel to baden-baden for the weekend and today (certainly) you can find here the traditional thursday-sheep. there´s also nothing more interesting to post: i´m knitting, waiting for the wool, feeling a little sad because i won´t meet to knit tomorrow, looking forward to baden-baden and still hoping, that there will be a summer (sometime).
