the day of pals and swaps

isn´t it wonderful, fabulous, incredible?! this is the lauries knit sock kit for me with so lovely things like goat milk soap (!), circulars and also a stretchy circular for knitting socks with only o n e needle with a correspondending pattern, kool-aid and wool for my selfdyed sockyarn and wonderful knitting magazines and notecards. the sockyarn in the front is named "beach day" - perfect for my holidays in france! everything is so inspiring & i can hardly decide what to try first...
thank you so much laurie - you did a great job and gave me a lot possibilities for new knitted sock experiences!

this afternoon there was also an envelope in my postbox: mother of purl was my mark those stitches pal and sent me four stitchmarkers: three with funny ladybirds and one with a fairy. i´m sorry that the picture is so blurred - it was impossible to take a better one ( i don´t know why...) - thank you so much for this cute stitchmarkers!

now i can start my next socks perfectly equipped! and i´m looking forward to show you the outcomes after my summerholidays.

don´t wonder - my next ten days will be charged with travelling, sunbathing, swimming, knitting, reading, sleeping, cooking and sightseeing. i would be pleased if you will come by again at the beginning of september! have a great time!

wonderful ksks-pal

this morning my ksks-parcel from laurie waited for me at the post-shop. it´s w o n d e r f u l! i can´t express my joy and surprise -
a wonderful knitted bag, fabulous sunny yarn with two patterns and also a skein for my first dying-experience with kool-aid colors! two circulars AND notecards AND four knitting magazines which are so rare to buy here in germany!!!

today in the evening i will also post pictures here in my blog. but you can also see some pictures of the bag she knitted for me and her own knit sock kit here at lauries blog.
i hope that my kit will also soon arrive at my pal - tomorrow it will be on its way for two weeks...

vicci in progress part 5

ich kanns kaum glauben, aber gestern abend habe ich abgekettet, perlen gekauft und angefangen mit der häkelkante. das ist zwar eine rechte frickelei, aber machbar. somit kann ich den erfolgreichen und (fast) fehlerfreien (ich glaube ja, einer ist drin, aber den finde ich selbst nicht mehr) abschluß der lace-strickerei verkünden. in den letzten zügen hat das muster nochmal richtig spaß gemacht, obwohl es mich bisweilen - besonders am anfang - richtig wahnsinnig gemacht hat. bilder vom fertigen produkt und der braut werden noch nachgeliefert.

i can´t belive it but yesterday in the evening vicci was casted off; i also bought the beads and began to crochet the edging. thats a little bit cumbersome but doable. so i can proudly announce the almost error-free finish of the lace-knitting (i´m not really sure, i suspect there´s one mistake but i can´t find it anymore). at the end it was really fun to knit although the pattern drove me crazy - especially during the first two skeins. pictures of the finished product and the bride will follow.

skein no.3 is finished. victoria is now 128cm (50,4 in) long - 20cm (9in) still to knit...

swapping

i proudly present to you 5 stitchmarkers on a keyring in a small envelope and one paperfolded bookmark for my mark those stitches-pal (she likes - among other things - japan and paperfolding...). tomorrow i will write the letter for my pal and then it will be dropped into the letterbox.
yesterday we met to knit again on frankfurt and it was a great evening and i did a moderate progress on vicci. actually i wonder if there will be a life after the mohair?! the most patterns for the autumn are using mohair but i would like to knit tweed, cashmere, merino and everything else but NO mohair for at least one year - i can´t see it anymore (but i have to...one more week...).

Strickt Ihr nur deutsche Anleitungen oder auch anderssprachige?
Vielleicht sogar etwas, das weder deutsch noch englisch beschrieben ist? Wie arbeitet Ihr die Anleitungen ab - erst übersetzen und dann stricken? Oder in der Originalsprache? Oder wartet Ihr bis eine Mailliste die Anleitung auf Deutsch hat?

ich stricke sozusagen deutsch und seit diesem jahr auch englisch. wobei es mir ähnlich wie claudia geht: meistens gefallen mir die englischen entwürfe besser, die anleitungen sind ausführlicher, übersichtlicher. dieses jahr habe ich meistens nach englischen anleitungen gestrickt und das vokabular eigentlich ganz schnell kapiert, wobei die hemmschwelle bei meiner ersten englischen anleitung (mrs beeton) doch hoch war und ohne den internen KAL mit frau s. aus düsseldorf hätte das wohl auch nicht so reibungslos geklappt.
